Hey, I’m Paul Detrick, an award-winning Los Angeles based freelance journalist, video producer and editor who’s covered DNA in crime fighting, sex work, niche subcultures, city planning, and food culture. I am interested in underreported history, cultural phenomenas and digging through archives of practically anything.
My work has been mentioned on CNN, NPR, CBS News, BBC, VICE and across the internet. With over a decade of experience, I’ve learned to report, producer, edit and handle a camera. I am passionate about digital video and over-the-years have developed a reputation for producing wildly different work that grabs people’s attention.
Recently I was an editor at World of Wonder Productions, where I’ve worked with raw footage to create interviews, comedy shows, sketch shows and docu-series.
