A.V. Club

“The video not only tracks the unlikely rise of the Posse, from struggling Detroit underground rappers to a surprisingly successful and enduring act, but contains a handful of tremendous sound bites, too. For instance, Violent J, explaining ICP’s rise: ‘You know what The Secret is? Laws of attraction and all that? We were fully putting that energy out as kids. Fully. And it was just destiny.’

More importantly, it details the reason juggalos are mad enough at the government to form a protest march. Their fans have been designated as a gang by the FBI, so ICP decided to strike back. In Shaggy 2 Dope’s words, ‘We’re First Amendment warriors. I dunno.’

It’s a good watch, equal parts subculture explainer and primer for a march that’s coincided with another rally that should, in a just world, be far more inscrutable to outside observers than fans of goofy clown rappers: a massive pro-Trump gathering.”

The status quo, where biomedical technicians have inconsistent access to service information, is unacceptable. In an investigation released yesterday, Reason’s Paul Detrick found that “during the COVID-19 pandemic, [biomedical technicians] have turned especially often to this decentralized information-sharing network to repair essential hospital equipment. But they’ve been using it for years, trading information on Reddit, Facebook, and websites like MedWrench and DotMed.”

“One of the highlights of the conference was Reason.tv's video, in which Paul Detrick and Josh Swain tracked down gay attendees by using Grindr. A few were willing to talk on camera, but others were so secretive that would only allow the camera to see their feet, as though under a bathroom stall divider.”

Nathan Rabin’s Happy Place
“I taped my bit for the Gathering video in a smoking room at the Medical Inn, a singularly gross motel room that somehow managed to be more disgusting than the grungiest tent at the Gathering. I was happy with my contributions to the video, but I didn’t realize how popular it was, particularly among Juggalos, until I started getting recognized repeatedly at the March, sometimes as the author of two books and countless articles about Insane Clown Posse but more often as the guy from that Reason video in the hotel room.

When you agree to a video or radio or phone interview, you never really know how it’s going to turn out, or what it’s eventual impact will be, if any. So I was surprised and impressed that a single elegantly assembled video could make me Juggalo famous.”

ReasonTV’s Paul Detrick took to Grindr to see how many gay people were at CPAC, and what they thought of the current conservative landscape.

‘CPAC has done all they can to push out gays officially here at CPAC, but we still think they’re here. We're going to try to find them,’ Detrick began. Find them they did — and many were even willing to talk about gay issues on camera.”

Reason.TV wanted to know, so they sent reporter Paul Detrick to the Gaylord National Resort in D.C. to seek out homosexual men with a tried-and-true method: Grindr.

Armed with an iPad, Detrick found a number of same-sex-attracted Republicans at the conference, and asked them what the hell they were doing there (politely, of course).”

“In a new video from Reason.com, ICP members Violent J and Shaggy 2 Dope shed some light on the Juggalo culture and what they are up against with the march.”

“Fascinating video.”
